Manage Fatigue and Drive Rested

Driver fatigue impairs judgment, slows reaction time, and increases accidents. Defensive drivers know when to stop driving.

Signs of Fatigue:

  • Heavy eyelids
  • Difficulty concentrating
  • Yawning frequently
  • Drifting between lanes
  • Delayed reactions
  • Inability to recall recent miles
  • Missing exits

Prevention:

  • Get 7-8 hours of sleep before driving
  • Avoid driving between 2-4 AM and 2-4 PM (natural low points)
  • Take breaks every 2 hours
  • Drive with a companion on long trips
  • Don't rely on caffeine as a solution
  • Pull over at rest stops for 15-20 minute naps
  • Switch drivers if available

The Reality:

No destination is worth risking your life. If you're tired, you're impaired. Stop driving.

If You Feel Fatigue:

  1. Move to the slow lane
  2. Turn on fresh air
  3. Play music
  4. Find a safe place to pull over
  5. Rest before continuing

Your safety is always the priority.
