Understand Blind Spots and Mirror Placement

Blind spots are areas you cannot see from your driving position, even with mirrors. Every vehicle has them, and they're a major accident risk.

Where Blind Spots Exist:

• Behind the vehicle
• Immediately beside your car (both sides)
• In front of the hood (especially important for large SUVs and trucks)
• Behind C-pillars

Mirror Setup for Best Coverage:

1. Rearview mirror - Should show most of the rear window
2. Left side mirror - Adjust so you see a sliver of your car
3. Right side mirror - Same as left, but shows less of your car's side

This setup minimizes overlap and covers more of what's around you.

Always:

• Turn your head to check blind spots
• Never change lanes without verifying they're clear
• Be aware of motorcycles and small vehicles in blind spots
• Assume other drivers have blind spots too
